About Vonda

I had the privilege of growing up in a pastor’s home. At the age of 5, I made a profession of faith. As I got into my teen years, I had many doubts about my salvation. Each night I would pray and ask the Lord to save me if I wasn’t already saved. However, there was never a transfer of dependence to Christ alone for that salvation. I also would think at times, “I’m the pastor’s daughter. Of course I’m saved!”

During the summer between my junior and senior years of high school, I went to Northland Camp & Conference Center for a couple of weeks. One evening a counselor gave a testimony that sounded very similar to mine. He mentioned that it had been his pride keeping him from getting saved. The message that night was also on pride. That evening I went forward and placed my dependence on Christ alone for my salvation.

After graduation from high school, I went on to Northland Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Secretarial Science in May of 1998. I then moved to Colorado to take the position as church secretary at Highlands Baptist Church.

During Missions Conference at Northland my Freshman year, I surrendered my life to the Lord. Throughout college and the time I spent at Highlands Baptist, I had been open to the Lord’s leading toward missions but never sensed the Lord clearly directing me to a specific field. In the summer of 2003, the Lord began burdening my heart for children’s work and missions. After talking with Pastor Musgrave, I started making plans to go to Cambodia. However, the Lord closed the door and is now leading me to work in Thailand I will be working with Jim and Kathi Hayes who have been missionaries there for 26 years. I am excited to join them in their ministries. I am looking forward to getting involved in children’s ministries, ladies’ ministries, and music with the Thai people as I assist in church planting. The Lord has worked in the lives of Matt and Courtney Jones who are also preparing to go work with Jim and Kathi. I am thrilled to be able to work with this team in the harvest fields of Surin, Thailand.
